The West Africans say,"Comrades." Permit me to borrow this phrase, while rejoicing in the almighty, for we are celebrating International Human rights day.
Today, the 10th day of Dec 2016,is a special day in our lives, since we are all humans, whose ambition to being part of the universe is enjoying freely, the plight of God's strategic plan to create us in his own image.
Well,as we join the rest of the world to commemorate this day,I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all human rights defenders, for your work contributes a lot to managing our humanity.
However, human rights violation has been on,in one way or another. This has negatively affected our economy, since most time is wasted in running for defence through courts of law and the like. The more time we spend in courts, the more losses we make on our part.
I therefore appeal to all comrades, to have respect for one another such that we can curb down this..
Great, the gap between the rich and the poor continue to worry most defenders of human rights. This has greatly affected most people especially the poor who work hard to managing their own families, only to be disappointed.
Most people are working under pressure, and their working conditions are still not good.
In Uganda, every human being has a right to work. But the way some private investors treat their workers totally violates the quo.
A case in point are supermarket attendants. Research carried out in most supermarkets around town show the following:
*workers are not given appointment letters. This puts their working conditions in doubts all the time.
*workers are over worked, and no extra payments(allowances)for the extra time worked. That is,most attendants work from 7:00am up to 11:00pm with only one off day of rest in one month, only to earn 200000 shillings a month.
*Workers have no medical insurance.
Some of these findings are really challenging the move to curb down human Rights violations.
I appeal to all stakeholders to do what it requires to protect the rights of all workers, other than just celebrating when some people are crying.
It is up to you and me to fight for our cause,if we are to enjoy the plight of being human beings.
Human rights have been violated on a daily basis, where most killings are reported daily. We are obliged to respect one another if we are to achieve more from what we think is right for all of us.
Silence and fear has led to most violations, thus underdevelopment.
I therefore appeal to all Ugandans to fully speak out and report grievances to immediate offices,in order to be helped. This can be achieved when there is proper sensitization to the general public by the organisations responsible.
Because we are,the nation is. And the nation is because we are. A reason as to why we should mind a lot in protecting our rights.
For God and my Country.
I salute you.
